Old and new divers always welcome
Based in Selby, we are a great bunch of people from around the Selby area (and beyond) who all share the love of scuba diving.
Our family orientated club has an active diving and social calendar. We meet regularly at club nights in Selby.
We always hold a summer BBQ, annual awards ceremony, inter-club challenges plus other family events with other neighbouring clubs.
We have a growing number of In-house instructors and a wide range of divers at all levels of experience.
Our 9m RIB (the Black Pig complete with Jolly Roger) is available for exploring the fascinating wrecks littering our east coast .
We run organised trips both home and abroad and host all year round diving and training.
We welcome old and new divers and offer ongoing training opportunities.
LEARNING TO DIVE

HOW ABOUT A "TRY DIVE"
From 8 years old.
If you've always wanted to learn to dive or are simply curious about SCUBA, then a Try Dive with Selby Sub Aqua Club is the perfect introduction!
In the safe confines of the Selby Leisure Centre pool, our Instructors will introduce you to the basic skills and equipment needed to experience the thrill of breathing underwater for the very first time!
All equipment included.
OCEAN DIVER TRAINING
From 14 years.
This is our entry-level qualification.
An Ocean Diver has the essential knowledge and skills for open water diving and is competent to conduct dives in familiar conditions with another Ocean Diver, to a maximum depth of 20m, at a suitable dive site selected and supervised by a dive marshal.
If you are a PADI Open Water or PADI AOW diver, you would join us at this level.
Sports Diver training builds on the open water diving skills learned at entry level and introduces rescue and resuscitation training.
After suitable experience building dives with an instructor or other experienced diver, a Sports Diver can undertake dives with other Sports Divers to a maximum depth of 35m. These dives may require mandatory decompression stops.
A Sports Diver can begin training as a diving instructor and become an Assistant Instructor.
If you are a PADI Rescue Diver you would join us at this level.
For the next two qualifications you would do a mix of training with us and attending regional courses.
A Dive Leader is trained in the responsibilities and safety aspects of leading less experienced divers on open water dives. He/she has rescue management skills to cope with unforeseen emergencies.
After progessive depth experience dives, he/she is qualified to dive to a maximum of 50m. A Dive Leader is competent to marshal and supervise branch dives at familiar locations and sites. This is the minimum grade required to qualify as a diving instructor.
If you are a PADI Dive Master you would join us at this level.
An Advanced Diver is considered comprehensively trained, experienced and responsible. He/she can manage and supervise adventurous and challenging diving, and organise branch expeditions to explore unfamiliar diving locations.

Selby Sub Aqua Club is a non for profit scuba diving club with the simple objective –
to dive and have fun!
Our social, family-friendly club offers a great mix of quality training and regular diving where divers can learn and progress at their own pace. We meet at 8pm every Tuesday evening at the Selby Railway Sports and Social Club.
Through your membership of Selby Sub Aqua Club you can enjoy the full range of club and training activities, including weekend dive trips, diving holidays and social activities.
As we are a non-profit organisation, many of these activities are run at cost for the benefit of our members:
Our theory lectures are free to attend.
Our Nationally Qualified Instructors are volunteers.
Our kit hire is cheap making our sport available to all.
After you’re qualified we don’t charge you to dive different experiences like wrecks or drifts.
We arrange UK and Foreign dive trips all year around to suit all budgets.
You don’t have to be a British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) qualified diver to join us – many of our divers first took the plunge with PADI, either overseas or in the UK. You won’t have to do a complex transition, or re-train – just come and have a chat and we can work out the best way to get you back in the water with us.
If you decide that you would like to continue your training, our qualified instructors can help you progress and qualify through the BSAC diver and instructor grades.
And, yes – your BSAC qualification is recognised and accepted worldwide!!!
