About us

Selby Sub Aqua club was formed in 1976.

Based in Selby, we are a great bunch of people from around the Selby area (and beyond) who all share the love of scuba diving.

Our family orientated club has an active diving and social calendar.

Selby Sub Aqua Club is a not for-profit scuba diving club with the simple objective – to dive and have fun!

Our social, family-friendly club offers a great mix of quality training and regular diving where divers can learn and progress at their own pace.

We meet at 8pm every Thursday evening at the Final Whistle.

We always hold a summer BBQ, annual awards ceremony, inter-club challenges plus other family events with other neighbouring clubs.

We have a growing number of In-house instructors and a wide range of divers at all levels of experience.

Our 9m RIB (the Black Pig complete with Jolly Roger) is available for exploring the fascinating wrecks littering our east coast.

We run organised trips both home and abroad and host all year round diving and training.

We welcome old and new divers and offer ongoing training opportunities.

Being a Member:

Through your membership of Selby Sub Aqua Club you can enjoy the full range of club and training activities, including weekend dive trips, diving holidays and social activities. As we are a non-profit organisation, many of these activities are run at cost for the benefit of our members:

  • Our theory lectures are free to attend.
  • Our Nationally Qualified Instructors are volunteers.
  • Our kit hire is cheap making our sport available to all.
  • After you’re qualified, we don’t charge you to dive different experiences like wrecks or drifts.
  • We arrange UK and Foreign dive trips all year around to suit all budgets.

You don’t have to be a British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) qualified diver to join us – many of our divers first took the plunge with PADI, either overseas or in the UK. You won’t have to do a complex transition, or re-train – just come and have a chat and we can work out the best way to get you back in the water with us. If you decide that you would like to continue your training, our qualified instructors can help you progress and qualify through the BSAC diver and instructor grades.

And yes – your BSAC qualification is recognised and accepted worldwide!!!
